178004, REFERENCE DESIGN BOARD, BUCK REGULATOR
MagI³C current source reference design demonstrates how a MagI3C power module can be used for high current LED applications. An adjustable output current limit can be set up to 3A. An output voltage limit can also be set to predefined values which corresponds to end of charge voltages of some common batteries. Batteries can be charged with a dc current or with a defined charging current waveform, if a digital to analogue converter or a PWM output of a microcontroller is used instead of the jumpers for current adjustment. An end of charge voltage can also be set as well as super cap charging. High power LEDs can be supplied up to 3A. During the development of a customer's prototype, the MagI³C current source can be implemented into the prototypes housing until the LED driver or batteries/supercap charger is defined for the ready to market product.
